EveryEurovision contest has its share of surprises. Last year, Nemo won the competition for Switzerland, but the Croatian candidate Baby Lasagna came close to dethroning him with his quirky universe and unusual song. Once again this year, several candidates are already making a name for themselves with their out-of-the-ordinary songs. So, here are 3 original songs from this spring's contenders for the 69thEurovision Song Contest.
For the record, the song " Espresso Macchiato " was co-written by Tomas Tammemets, aka Tommy Cash, and Finnish songwriter Johannes Naukkarinen. To refresh your memory, Johannes Naukkarinen was already one of the songwriters behind " Cha Cha Cha " by Finnish rapper Käärijä, who represented Finland at the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest.
This year, he has teamed up with Estonia and Tommy Cash to create this song, whose clip is intended to be offbeat and humorous. Will this song help Tommy Cash andEstonia win the 69th Eurovision Song Contest? Find out this spring!
A duo of brothers: that's the bandIceland has decided to bank on this year. This spring, the small island nation on the North Atlantic Ocean presents VÆB (pronounced " vibe" ), made up of brothers Matthías Davíð Matthíasson and Hálfdán Helgi Matthíasson.
It was in 2022, with the publication of a humorous song on TikTok, that the VÆB duo made their name. In 2025, the Icelandic group set themselves a new challenge by taking part in the 69th edition ofEurovision. It's an opportunity for them to astonish and surprise the contest's spectators with their song " Róa ", supported by an original staging that's sure to get people talking.
Everything's original about this representative of Sweden! Starting with their origins, since the band hails from Vörå... in Finland! Nevertheless, KAJ will be representing the Scandinavian country this spring. In fact, KAJ is the first Finnish group to represent Sweden at Eurovision, and " Bara Bada Bastu " is the first Swedish song to take part in the contest since 1998.
Their style? Comic songs celebrating Finnish and Swedish culture, infused with Nordic folk melodies, modern pop and theatrical performances. The proof is in their track " Bara Bada Bastu ", which features the Finnish art of the sauna. Proof of the song's success is that it is currently ranked in the Top 5 of favorites, according to the bookmakers.
