While 30 countries will have to endure the dreaded semi-finals, five nations are already assured a place in the Eurovision final, set for Saturday, May 16, 2026, in Vienna, Austria.
Normally, the members of the famous "Big 5" — the five main financial contributors to the EBU (European Broadcasting Union): Germany, Italy, Spain, France, and the United Kingdom — are automatically qualified. But this year Spain has opted out of Eurovision. In 2026, the "Big 5" becomes the "Big 4." Additionally, the host country also advances directly to the final. For this 70th edition, Austria is therefore guaranteed a spot in the grand final on May 16.
Without further ado, discover the participants and songs from these five countries that have been granted automatic entry to the Eurovision 2026 final.
We start with Germany. This year the country is represented by Sarah Engels, who has been a household name at home since her 2011 run on Deutschland Sucht Den Superstar. Since then, the singer has made numerous television appearances, including Let's Dance, Das Große Promibacken, The Masked Singer and Dancing on Ice. In 2025, Sarah Engels unveiled her new album Strong Girls Club, and also took on the lead role in the Cologne production of Moulin Rouge.
This spring, the singer takes on a fresh challenge: to shine at the 70th edition of the Eurovision with her song "Fire", in the hope of bringing the trophy home!
Once again this year, the French public did not have the chance to choose France’s Eurovision representative. It was France Télévisions that picked the artist, namely Monroe.
Revealed to a broad audience in 2025 thanks to her victory on the show “Prodiges” on France 2, Monroe stands out for her vocal power and modern sensibility. The classical-trained artist, who grew up between France and the United States, began singing and playing piano at a very young age. With a foundation in classical music, Monroe is gradually forging a personal, contemporary universe. In a bid to clinch the win this spring in Vienna, Monroe will perform her song titled “Regarde !.”
The Italy, also part of the so‑called "Big 5", has named the artist who will represent it at this spring's Eurovision. And it’s Sal Da Vinci with his track "Per Sempre Sì". The Neapolitan singer‑songwriter, famed for writing for Ornella Vanoni and Renato Zero, has been chosen by Italy to chase the victory, following Måneskin’s win in 2021.
Born as Salvatore Michael Sorrentino in 1969, the artist has racked up a string of hits across his career. In 1994, he won the Italian Music Festival on Canale 5 with the song "Vera". In 2009, Sal Da Vinci finished third at the Sanremo Music Festival with "Non Riesco A Farti Innamorare". It would be until 2026 before he finally claimed the coveted national title and earned Italy’s spot at the Eurovision Song Contest.
Look Mum No Computer : here is the name of the artist who will carry Britain’s flag this spring in Austria. Behind the name lies Sam Battle, a boundary-pushing singer-songwriter and inventor of quirky, one-of-a-kind musical machines. After fronting the indie rock band ZIBRA, Sam Battle launches a solo career. A move that seems to suit him, since Look Mum No Computer has been chosen to represent the United Kingdom this spring at Eurovision. A testament to his renown, the artist boasts 1.4 million followers across social media!
This spring, with the track "Eins, Zwei, Drei", Look Mum No Computer is hoping to grab the top spot!
Austria, which won the last Eurovision, will it manage two consecutive victories? For now, the suspense remains high, but the reigning champion has decided to bet on COSMÓ in 2026. A Hungary-born singer, the artist grew up in Burgenland, Austria. Before representing his country at the Eurovision Song Contest, COSMÓ took part in "The Voice Kids" in 2022 and even reached the final. For Eurovision, he chose the song "Tanzschein", and aims to spread love through his music.
