A very beautiful song delivered with brio by the young Monroe. But that wasn’t enough. This Saturday, May 16, 2026, Monroe unfortunately failed to clinch first place and the victory in the final of the 70th edition of the Eurovision. With her song titled “Regarde !,” Monroe ultimately finishes 11th in the official and final standings. The singer did win over a large portion of the professional jury, accumulating (plus the public vote) a total of 158 points. But the Bulgarian contestant, Dara, proved stronger on May 16, taking the 2026 Eurovision crown.
We can imagine the disappointment of Monroe and the French delegation at the Eurovision. Especially since the artist had spared no effort in recent weeks and days, tirelessly rehearsing her performance. But the artist can be proud of herself. Monroe thus delivered a very beautiful show this Saturday night during the 70th final of the Eurovision, unveiling a performance as beautiful as it was moving.
With its 11th place in the overall standings, Monroe thus fails to surpass Barbara Pravi, who finished second in 2021, Slimane, who came fourth in 2024, or Louane, who finished seventh in 2025.
It’s worth noting that France’s last win at the Eurovision Song Contest dates back to 1977. That year, Marie Myriam won the hearts of the entire assembly and claimed the title with her song « L'Oiseau et l'Enfant ». Since then, France has been desperate for a new, sixth victory. But it seems fate is not on their side.
