Gojira fans are in the starting blocks! The famous French metal band, originally from the Landes region, is preparing to set a dozen French stages alight during its tour of France. The tour, which is set to begin on November 27 in Reims, will include stops in Lille, the Accor Arena in Paris, Nantes, Toulouse, Marseille, Nice, Lyon, and Strasbourg.
But three days before the start of the tour, Gojira announced some bad news. Joe Duplantier had to undergo ligament surgery following an injury to his right thumb a few weeks ago. The metal band's singer said he is recovering slowly from the operation. But fans can rest assured that the Gojira singer's hand injury will not lead to any cancellations. However,Joe Duplantier has stated that he will unfortunately not be able to play all the guitar parts during the French leg of the tour. So, the band has decided to call on a "long-time neighbor and friend" to lenda handfor this tour, which promises to be "colorful and absolutely unique."
So, who is he? Who is this musician who will be joining the four members of Gojira for all their French dates? He is guitaristGreg Kubacki, an American musician and visual artist, best known as the guitarist and main composer of the New York mathcore band Car Bomb. The combo has already toured with Gojira, Meshuggah, Animals as Leaders, Between the Buried and Me, and Dillinger Escape Plan.Greg Kubackihas also launched his solo project calledSun Guts.
"The atmosphere is excellent in our camp, as we are about to have an interesting experience on our own turf. Let the show continue!" Joe Duplantier posted on his social media accounts. This will be the first time that Gojira will performas a five-piece on stage. However, this is not the first time that another musician has joined the band. In 2022, Christian Andreu, theguitarist of the French metal band, had to leave the tour to attend the birth of his first child. He was replaced by Aldrick Guadagnino from Klone.
So, are you looking forward to seeing Gojira accompanied by Greg Kubacki on stage? In Paris, head to theAccor Arena on Sunday, November 30!
