Kate Barry: a retrospective exhibition at Quai de la Photo in Paris, our photos

Kate Barry 's photographic works are on show in Paris in a major retrospective. Not to be missed from December 15, 2023 to March 20, 2024, this original, free exhibition can be seen at Quai de la Photo, located in the capital's 13th arrondissement. Through this retrospective devoted to Kate Barry, the Parisian floating art center dedicated to contemporary photography aims to unveil the wealth of her fascinating work to as many people as possible, but also to pay tribute to her on the 10th anniversary of her death in 2013 at the age of 46.

While many inevitably associate Kate Barry with Jane Birkin, the discreet photographer produced a large number of works as diverse as they were varied. A fragile, poetic body of work that Quai de la Photo wishes to introduce to curious photographic art enthusiasts at this Paris exhibition entitled " My Own Space ". The installation will run in two phases: from December 15, 2023 to February 5, 2024, and from February 7 to March 20, 2024.

Some 80 photographs by Kate Barry will be on display in the capital for over three months. Spread across all the spaces of the floating building, these photographs reveal the full scope of the work of the artist who began her career as a photographer in 1996.

It's an opportunity to learn more about his emblematic projects and favorite themes, such as melancholy landscapes, but also fashion and his photos for Elle or Milk Magazaine and the famous black-and-white portraits of his close friends (his mother Jane Birkin or his half-sister Lou Doillon) and celebrities (Isabelle Huppert, Laetitia Casta, Béatrice Dalle, Emmanuelle Béart, Catherine Deneuve, Vanessa Paradis, Amira Casar, Helena Bonham Carter, Monica Bellucci...).
