This spring, the 14th arrondissement of Paris puts street art and women in the spotlight, with two free collective exhibitions. From Saturday March 1 to Thursday March 13, 2025, discover "Les violettes du Montparnasse". Then make way for the "Black Women Power" installation, on view from Friday March 21 to Wednesday April 30.

To mark gender equality month and the fight for women's rights, Mairie du 14e arrondissement invites you to discover two free collective urban art exhibitions featuring women.

Both installations are curated by Garidell 14. This urban art gallery, described as " feminist and itinerant ", was founded in 2015. What makes it special? It travels and invests in different living spaces such as Le Corbusier's Cité de Refuge, the Théâtre Toursky International, the Maison de la Vie Associative et Citoyenne and social-cultural centers. Recently, Garidell 14 took over the Palais de la Femme - Armée du Salut to present the " J'aime qui je veux " exhibition. A few months earlier, street art fans were able to immerse themselves in " Les Années Folles ".

This spring, Garidell 14 is organizing two new exhibitions dedicated to urban art, both collective and feminine. The first, entitled " Les violettes du Montparnasse ", runs from Saturday March 1 to Thursday March 13, 2025, at the Galerie du Montparnasse.

With free admission from Monday to Sunday (10am to 12pm, then 2pm to 7pm), the installation aims to make lesbians visible through portraits of artists, writers and activists who have reflected on their lesbianism. For the occasion, the " Les violettes du Montparnasse " exhibition will feature the work of some twenty female urban artists, including Carole B, Delphine Delas, Demoiselle MM, Kashink, Lapin Mutant, Maca, Marquise Street-Art and Miss Green Grenouille.

A program of live-painting (Saturday, March 1), guided tours (Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday at 11am and 3pm), sung lectures, round-table discussions and workshops will punctuate the entire event.

The second free street art exhibition, also organized by Garidell 14 with the Mairie du 14e arrondissement, is entitled " Black Women Power ". This time, the public will be able to admire works illustrating the individual and collective power of black women, and portraits of inspiring black women such as Angela Davis, Rosa Park, Michelle Obama, Nina Simone and Katherine Johnson.

Also open to the public Monday to Friday, the " Black Women Power " exhibition is not to be missed from Friday March 21 to Wednesday April 30, 2025 at the Centre socioculturel Maurice Noguès.
