We're off to the 91 to discover the Château de saint-Jean de Beauregard, which is open to visitors on Sunday afternoons and public holidays, in addition to well-known events such as the egg hunt and the Fête des Plantes.
This perfectly preserved château, still inhabited today, is a classic 17th-century residence. Guided tours take visitors inside the château. Inhabited year-round, it is fully furnished and contains numerous portraits and family mementos. You'll discover a summer salon, a library, the dining room with its superbly preserved décor, as well as the outbuildings: chapel, outbuildings, stables, vegetable garden, orangery, moat, ice house, and a magnificent dovecote revealing no less than four thousand five hundred boulins. At 12 metres high, it is one of the largest dovecotes in the Ile-de-France region.
The highlight of a visit to the Domaine de Saint-Jean de Beauregard is the gardens, and in particular the kitchen garden, which reveals some botanical marvels. The two-hectare fully enclosed kitchen garden is representative of French-style flower gardens, classified as a historic monument in 1993 and awarded the "remarkable garden" label in 2005.
It features a lovely mix of flowers, including tulips, irises, peonies and dahlias. We stroll along avenues of fruit trees, strawberry plants and other vegetables, discover the table grape greenhouses and, at the far end, a superb orchard.
Virtually the entire park has been preserved in the French style. Stroll along its paths, discovering its oak, ash, chestnut and hornbeam trees and its water features.
