Everyone is familiar with the Perseid Meteor Shower in summer, typically at the beginning of August. However, there was also a winter event designed for stargazing during that season, which has now been replaced by the Equinox Nights. This event takes place in the spring! The French Astronomical Society invites the public to enjoy viewing stars and constellations through special, friendly activities from March 20 to 22, 2026. It’s a perfect opportunity to marvel at countless celestial wonders!
This time, the winter chill may have left us for spring-like temperatures, but don't forget to pack your gear so you don't end up freezing to death. Dress in layers, don't forget gloves, hats, scarves and warm socks, and don't forget a flashlight! On the menu: telescope and naked-eye sky observation evenings, stories and legends about the constellations and other surprises for the whole family.

Come stargaze with us at L'Uranoscope, where telescopes will be set up for an evening under the stars.
Kick off with an engaging story about Guillaume Le Gentil, an 18th-century astronomer under Louis XV, who set out to observe a transit of Venus and returned to France after an 11-year voyage. Following that, enjoy a night of celestial observation through visual and photographic methods. Several instruments will be available, including two telescopes and automatic cameras for astrophotography. Expect to get a clear view of Jupiter, the Moon, and—time permitting—nebulae and galaxies like Orion’s M42.
Explore stunning photographs by amateur astronomers from the Vayrois Astroclub. The evening will also feature constellation spotting and identifying the brightest stars of spring, along with observations using various instruments.
