Immerse yourself in the past during Imperial Sunday, a day of exceptional historical re-enactment in the footsteps of Napoleon I and Marie-Louise in Rambouillet, Yvelines, through its château, national sheepfold and art and history museum! For this fourth edition, on October 12, 2025, enjoy the beauties of this town through activities accessible to the whole family, thanks to the Imperial Pass.
Three emblematic sites welcome you, with colorful characters, scenes from daily life, demonstrations of old-time crafts, an exhibition and a falconry show! A chance to meet the Emperor in person, at a fixed time to take a souvenir photo with Napoleon! A getaway easily accessible by train from Paris, in the heart of the former imperial estate of Rambouillet, one of Napoleon I's favorites!
It was in July 1810 that he showed his young bride, Marie-Louise, his most intimate home, where he had also prepared his marriage proposal.
At the Château
Become Napoleon and Marie-Louise's guest at Rambouillet, during an immersive theatrical tour. Scene after scene, the château is revealed as the Emperor knew it in 1811: a place of intimacy and relaxation, but also a place to work out of sight. Freedom seems to be the watchword: here, Napoleon escapes... And one question crosses everyone's mind: "Where can he be?"
Experience a moment of complicity between Napoleon I and Marie-Louise during a never-before-seen scene, followed by a falconry show presented by Vol Libre Production.
At the Bergerie nationale
A reconstruction of the imperial farm awaits you, with its trades of yesteryear, its craftsmen and, of course, the star of the show: the Mérinos de Rambouillet sheep. On the program: demonstrations of work with horses, donkeys and sheep, carriage rides and dramatizations of daily life.
Charles Germain Bourgeois, director, is waiting for you! Played by an actor, he'll tell you ALL about the Emperor's ambitions to improve the quality of wool produced in France, and how the unique Rambouillet farm works.
The Palace of the King of Rome
Housed in the Palais du Roi de Rome, designed to accommodate L'Aiglon, the exhibition retraces the major stages of his life, from his birth in 1811 to his exile in 1814, which marked the end of the First Empire. You'll discover the great figures who marked his childhood, as well as his entertainment.
Madame de Montesquiou, very much involved in her role as governess, is in a state. Work on the palace for the Prince is progressing well, but there's still so much to do! Your arrival gives her a welcome break from court gossip and fascinating anecdotes about the life of the imperial couple and L'Aiglon.
