In Versailles, the Nature & Discoveries Farm offers a space devoted to urban agriculture, biodiversity, and knowledge-sharing around natural gardening, just a few minutes from Versailles-Chantiers station.

In Versailles, nature is cultivated right in the city. Located at Passage des Étangs Gobert, about 300 metres from Versailles-Chantiers station, the Ferme Nature & Découvertes is an urban, productive farm inspired by permaculture. The site was designed as a space for cultivation, learning and outreach, easily accessible from Paris and the Île-de-France region by lines N, U, C, V and the TER network.

The project was conceived, designed and managed by CLAP, an agricultural services company specializing in permaculture-inspired urban farming projects. Its creation was co-financed by Nature & Découvertes, headquartered nearby, and by the fondation Famille Lemarchand.

The concept of the farm rests on a simple idea: to show that it is possible to produce, to learn, and to rebuild the connection with living things in an urban environment. It covers market gardening, soils, biodiversity, edible garden plants, ecosystems, and natural gardening. The farm also serves as a training ground for those who want to deepen their understanding of permaculture, organic farming, or small‑scale growing practices.

The site's mission is also educational. Visits and workshops are offered for schools, with the aim of raising awareness among children about local nature, garden plants, and a more mindful approach to food. The approach is hands-on: observe, touch, understand how a plant grows, discover the role of insects, the seasons, and the soil. For visitors not accompanied by a school, you can explore the farm by choosing the self-guided tour of its educational path, offered every Wednesday from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, at €2.

La Ferme Nature & Découvertes also hosts events, talks, open house days, and informal meetups focused on agriculture, ecology, and gardening. Throughout the year, the public can drop by to tour the site, take part in a workshop, enroll in a training session, or simply discover a farm setting tucked into an urban landscape.

With its location near the Gobert Ponds and the train station, the farm offers an easy outing for those who want to better understand urban farming without leaving the Île-de-France region. A simple reminder that nature isn’t just in the countryside: it can also be cultivated at the end of a train platform.
