Come and discover the garden of the Palais Royal during the Rendez-vous aux Jardins 2025. For the occasion, sculptures and small sailboats are in the spotlight!

Rendez-vous aux Jardins is one of the events organized every year by the French Ministry of Culture, in Paris, the Île-de-France region and even throughout the country. For one weekend, from June 6 to 8, 2025, the great public and private gardens reveal themselves to us through a host of free events.

What's on the program? Guided tours, workshops and activities for the whole family await you, to discover or rediscover the most beautiful gardens in our region, while raising awareness of environmental conservation. In Paris, many gardens are open for these special events, including the Tuileries, the Luxembourg Gardens and the Palais Royal Gardens in the Marais district.

It's one of the best-known and best-loved gardens in Paris, also classified as a Jardin Remarquable: we're talking, of course, about the garden of the Domaine national du Palais-Royal. Located in the heart of the capital, opposite the Louvre, this garden has a rich history: first designed by Pierre Desgots, it was laid out during the winter of 1635-1636 with lateral alignments of chestnut trees and basins embellished with marble and bronze statues. From 1661, the Palais Royal became the residence of the d'Orléans family, when Louis XIV donated it to his brother.

From 1674, Le Nôtre began transforming the gardens. From 1817 to 1824, the central basin and parterres were created. The central basin was surrounded by lawns bordered by flowerbeds redesigned by landscape architect Mark Rudkin in 1992, when the French Minister of Culture and Communication, Jack Lang, presented a project to rejuvenate the gardens of the Palais-Royal. He retained the structure of two large parterres and alignments of trees, while seeking to restore floral and plant diversity and quality.

The Jardin du Palais Royal is a little jewel of greenery, hidden away in the heart of Paris: here you can admire the beauty of the flowers (especially the magnolias and tulips), stroll along the shady paths or simply sit on one of the benches stamped with poets' quotations to read a book. For art lovers, this is where you'll find the famous "Colonnes de Buren", striped in black and white, and the Ministry of Culture, which has its offices in the Palais-Royal.
