Just a few kilometres away from the hustle and bustle of Paris, in the heart of the Jardin d'Agronomie Tropicale nestled in the bois de Vincennes, V’île Fertile has transformed an abandoned site into a true living laboratory dedicated to urban agriculture, to sustainable food, and to biodiversity.
Founded by a team passionate about urban farming and ecology, V’île Fertile grows crops in open ground, uses cultivation techniques respectful of living systems, and runs projects around the circular economy. The site also serves as a educational space where residents, families, schools and businesses can practically engage with the challenges of food and biodiversity.
Kitchen gardens, greenhouses, planting beds, composting zones, educational spaces and wild areas make up a bucolic landscape where you almost forget you’re on the edge of Paris. Here, everything is designed to experiment with new ways to produce and consume more sustainably, in a spirit of collaboration and accessible to all.
The public workshops and training sessions are among the venue’s standout strengths. Gardening, natural cosmetics, explorations of pollinator insects, composting, permaculture market gardening, and an introduction to agroecology let visitors get their hands dirty. There are also edible walks designed to familiarize guests with wild plants—whether edible or toxic.
And V’île Fertile isn’t just about pedagogy. The venue regularly hosts cultural events (48h de l’Agriculture Urbaine, Jardins Ouverts, Alimenterre), public product sales, citizen discussions, or festive moments around nature and sustainable food. The upcoming program can be found on the V’île Fertile site!
