Let's set the record straight: Japanese restaurants in Paris rarely rank among the most budget-friendly spots in the city. It's well known that to truly experience authentic Japanese flavors, you'll need to open your wallet. That said, a few Japanese eateries in Paris still stand their ground, offering dishes of exceptional quality—crafted with ultra-fresh fish—all while maintaining affordable menus suitable for most budgets.
While its storefront may not look like much, Wrap'n Roll Sushi, a short walk from Saint-Lazare station in a modest pedestrian passage, embodies the saying "Don't judge a book by its cover". It’s one of those Parisian spots that locals whisper about, tucked away as a well-kept secret. Indeed, it’s a must-visit address in the 9th arrondissement, popular for years among savvy diners and longtime neighborhood regulars.
Warmly greeted by the attentive and caring team, we head upstairs — as the ground floor, busy during the week with local workers and passing tourists, is simply overwhelmed. There, we discover the well-stocked menu at Wrap'n Roll Sushi, which is primarily focused on rolls. Expect superbly crafted damp, plump maki and California rolls presented in long, appealing rows on the plate. All of this is offered at a truly affordable price considering the generous portions and high quality.
The sourcing and freshness of the ingredients are immediately evident in the tasting: salmon, sea bream, crab, and other shrimp all seem to have just come out of the water and landed right in front of us, ready to be grabbed with a pair of chopsticks. The same goes for the ginger, naturally a beautiful blonde color, the Miso soup, lightened of its usual excess of salt, and the fermented cabbage salad, perfectly crunchy as it should be.
Now, the only thing left is to decide which of the most original dishes on the menu will earn your favor. Personally, we’re going for the grilled eel rolls, the decadent "Green Dragon Roll" (the restaurant doesn’t shy away from such a rare and sought-after ingredient as eel—delicious!). Then there are the shrimp tempura rolls, delightfully crispy; the more classic cream cheese rolls, our guilty pleasure—fresh and flavorful; and finally, the , topped with capelin eggs.
Finally, don’t miss the Bake Salmon Roll served with a special sauce (baked in the oven with a 20-minute wait!), and the Crunchy Philly Roll (added to the menu at the start of 2026 — featuring salmon, avocado, cream cheese, a crispy coating, and sesame seeds)... everything is delicious, fresh, generously portioned, and honestly impressive when it comes to value for money.

An affordable Japanese spot in Paris that truly deserves to be better known. It stands out with its inventive sushi rolls, friendly service, and the genuine smile that lights up the experience — from tasting to leaving happy and satisfied, grateful for such great flavors at a wallet-friendly price.
A resounding yes for Wrap'n Roll, the must-visit restaurant in the Saint-Lazare neighborhood!
