We'll take you on a trip to Mexico while staying in Fontainebleau in the Seine-et-Marne region. Opened in 2022, Casa Azul is the fruit of the joint adventure ofAniss Bencharif and Josselin Pagès. It all began in 2020, during the first confinement, when the two friends launched a dark kitchen on rue Guérin. Inspired by their travels betweenAustralia, California and Asia, they decided to introduce Bellifontains to modern, accessible Mexican street food. The restaurant, set in a small cobbled street in the pedestrian district, is an invitation to taste, with its bright facade and open kitchen where you can watch the chefs at work.
On the plate, Casa Azul focuses on homemade dishes, using local, quality produce. Tacos and quesadillas are available in a wide range of recipes. Among the must-tries are the melt-in-your-mouth beef tacos, the chicken tinga or confit pig tacos, and the vegetarian version withbreaded artichoke, which we really liked. We enjoyed the mint burrata and the roasted beet and seed salad on a bed of spinach shoots. The ingredients are rigorously selected: the meat comes from Viand'Art, a renowned local butcher, while the fresh vegetables arrive each morning from Normandie Primeurs.
Let yourself be tempted by the experience menu at €25, offering the perfect selection for a taste of the essentials: two pairs of tacos or a quesadilla and a refreshing salad. An ideal formula for a taste journey without excess.
Casa Azul 's identity is based on a creative fusion of Mexican cuisine and French fundamentals. Far from the classic taco, Aniss and Josselin propose well-balanced recipes, incorporating an impressive variety of fresh vegetables while limiting the addition of fat. Their vision? To offer a cuisine that is both generous and light, true to their values of sharing and modernity.
More than just a restaurant, Casa Azul is a place where the two chefs' warm welcome reflects their passion for gastronomy and their attachment to Fontainebleau. The name, a nod to Frida Kahlo and her emblematic "blue house", evokes a spirit ofescape and conviviality.
The dining room is on two floors. The first floor is a bistro facing the street, with an open bar, and the vaulted basement with exposed stonework provides a more convivial setting.
With affordable prices - tacos at €8 a pair, quesadillas at €14 - and a young, dynamic service, Casa Azul appeals to regulars and the curious alike. An address to discover from Wednesday to Sunday, lunch and dinner, at 11 rue de la Corne in Fontainebleau. For reservations call 01 60 96 51 17.
