The battle has been rough and doesn’t seem to be entirely over yet, even though, for now, Thierry Marx and Frédéric Anton, with group Elinor, won the adjudication for the “management and exploitation of the Eiffel Tower food and drink services”. An adjudication valid for 10 years, starting September 2019, to the detriment of Alain Ducasse and group Elior.
This adjudication involves one Michelin star gastronomic restaurant Le Jules Verne set one the second floor of the Iron Lady and managed by Alain Ducasse for ten years. The place should be taken over by Pré Catelan 3-Michelin star chef Frédéric Anton.
As well as brasserie Le 58 Tour Eiffel that will be managed by Sur-Mesure – Mandarin Oriental restaurant – two-Michelin star chef Thierry Marx who also manages many other establishments including Teppan that has just opened at the Charles-de-Gaulle airport.
The adjudication also includes take-away snacks sales, the event catering offer that will be entrusted to Thierry Marx as well as the company restaurant.
A decision reconsidered by Alain Ducasse who intends to bring precontractual interlocutory procedure before the administrative court to have the procedure for awarding the contract annulled. He points out a possible conflict of interests: Nova Consulting, the company the Société d’Exploitation de la Tour Eiffel (SETE) called to decide between candidates has in the past advised Sodexo who won the bid.
