Dessirier is what we commonly call an institution. Set since 1883 in the Place du Maréchal Juin in Paris 17th arrondissement, this irresistible fish restaurant is managed by two-Michelin-star chef Michel Rostang and his daughters, and in some way, it’s part of the local furniture. Without looking dusty!
The restaurant offers a very chic sea cuisine that is very modern – including the presence on the menu of a few classics of the French gastronomy such as the avocado with shrimps (€28). For instance, we tasted the sea bream and lobster tartare (€38), beautifully soft, and shelled crayfishes tails served with a zucchini cream with candied lemon and kalamata oil (€33).
Among the dishes available on the menu, we have a filet of red mullet and soft carrots with spices (€38), pan-fried squids (€41) and even a gratin of Martelli Macaroni and Breton lobster (€49). We went for two excellent dishes, meaning a thick wild-caught blue sea bass steak (€44), mashed potatoes and chicken whole juice and a half-cooked and roast bluefin tuna (€36) cooked just rare with stuffed Provence baby vegetables (look at this baby zucchini!) and perfectly seasoned.
The most gourmet foodies will go for the whole grilled fishes or cooked in a salt crust – grey sea bream, coastal young turbot, John Dory, between €41 and €54 per person – or for the poached or roasted whole blue lobster (€76).
Desserts at Dessirier are in line with the main courses and the starters: of a high level. We went for rather classic choices: a fabulous chocolate soufflé (€13) and a vanilla mille-feuilles with a salted fudge sauce (€13). But the restaurant also has fresher and more fruity desserts like a frozen peach, a lemon thyme sorbet with a redcurrant coulis (€13) or a soft apricot, chilled melon soup and verbena sorbet (€15).
For fish lovers or simply fans of exceptional produces, the Dessirier institution is THE good address likely to meet your needs thanks to its French know-how… unique.
