In Paris, Japanese pastries offer a sweet and refined interlude. Mochi, matcha, yuzu, dorayaki... An invitation to indulge in delicate and balanced treats.

Want to get off the beaten track when it comes to sweet treats? In Paris, Japanese pastries seduce with their finesse, low sugar content, minimalist aesthetics, and unique textures. These are places you absolutely must discover, which stand out for their subtle approach.

Here, there is no overly rich cream or excess sugar: everything is about balance. These places, which have come from Japan or are inspired by its pastry art, offer a different idea of indulgence, one that is lighter, more plant-based, and resolutely elegant. At the counter, you'll find melt-in-the-mouth mochi, dorayaki filled with red bean paste, matcha cakes, yuzu-flavored mont-blancs, and Japanese cheesecakes.

Each creation is carefully thought out, often with great visual simplicity but remarkable technical precision. Some Japanese pastry shops in Paris also offer fusion sweets combining French and Japanese influences, such as matcha and citrus tarts, green tea mille-crêpes, white miso madeleines, and black sesame flans.

Others, on the contrary, remain faithful to Japanese traditions, with recipes inspired by wagashi, the sweets served during the tea ceremony. Calm and refined, the Japanese pastry shops in the capital are perfect for a sophisticated break. So, here are the best places to go!
