There are those who want to see life in pink, but matcha lovers would prefer to see it in green. Good news, we've found a spot to suit your sweet tooth. Head for rue Volta, in the capital's third arrondissement, to discover Shodai Matcha, the tea and pastry shop that puts this green tea in the spotlight.
It gets to the point where you almost don't know which way to turn. Cheese cake, roulé, opera, crêpe, mochi... here, Matcha is available in a dozen pastries. Sometimes it's blended with raspberry, pecan or even durian in a mille-crêpe, but it's always the center of attention. Even the most frosty of you can enjoy matcha ice cream here.

It's also here that you can sample no less than a dozen matcha-based beverages. Matcha Latte and bubble-tea enthusiasts are sure to find what they're looking for. But other, more surprising recipes, sometimes including cheese, sometimes glutinous rice, invite you to push your gourmet passion beyond what you've tasted elsewhere.
For our part, we've fallen head over heels for the pecan mille-crêpes, a recipe that adds a pleasant crunchy note to a dessert that might ordinarily be criticized for lacking one. We also love the matcha crepe roll filled with chantilly and red beans.
Come on! Let's go for a run in green paradise!
Please note that it's been over 4 years since our last visit, so the place and experience may have changed.
