September 18, 2025 is shaping up to be a particularly difficult day on public transport, due to a cross-industry industrial action. So what exactly can we expect on the metro, RER, Tramway and Transilien? Find out more about the disruptions announced by RATP and Transilien SNCF, with traffic forecasts and closed stations.

A week after the mobilization launched by the"Bloquons tout" movement, a new day of strikes and demonstrations is being organized in France against the 2026 budget. This time, it's the intersyndicale (UNSA, CFDT, CGT, FO, CGC, CFTC, Solidaires, FSU) which is calling for a national day of strikes and demonstrations on Thursday, September 18, 2025.

Disruptions are expected in the education, airline, hospital and public transport sectors.

The strike on September 18, 2025 looks set to be particularly well-attended, with major disruptions forecast for the SNCF and RATP transport systems, the airline industry, schools, hospitals and pharmacies. Eight trade union confederations are calling for this cross-industry mobilization against the Bayrou budget. [Read more]

On the SNCF and RATP sides, the mobilization promises to be very closely followed. At a press conference on September 16, Transport Minister Philippe Tabarot warned: " It's going to be a difficult day for public transport users ".

So, what exactly can we expect? 48 hours before the start of the mobilization, RATP has unveiled its first forecasts. And metro and RER users will have to adapt to the situation this Thursday, September 18, and avoid taking public transport wherever possible.

In detail, RATP is announcing that traffic will be normal on lines 1, 4 and 14 , the only automatic lines on the Paris metro. For the rest, traffic will be disrupted"only during rush hour" on lines 7, 9, 10 and 13. Finally, traffic is expected to be"very disrupted", and again"only during rush hour", on lines 2, 3, 3bis, 5, 6, 7bis, 8, 11 and 12.

What about the RER (RATP zone)? Traffic will be"disrupted" on line A and also"disrupted" on RER B, but with an interconnection maintained at Gare du Nord. For the rest, SNCF Transilien is announcing"disrupted" traffic on RER C, and"heavy disruption" on RED D and RER E.
