The UGC Ciné Cité des Halles has long been known as Paris’s largest cinema complex and the theater with the most screens in France and across Europe. It’s also been recognized as the most frequented cinema in the world for several years, a fact reaffirmed this year by the UGC group. Located right in the heart of the 1st arrondissement, it boasts 27 screens and hosts around forty movies in theaters, showing for several weeks from 9 a.m. to midnight, every day.
Nestled within the vast Forum des Halles shopping center and easily accessible via one of the world's largest underground stations, this over 30-year-old cinema offers a rich selection of recent films in their original version or with French subtitles, as well as timeless classics.
With nearly 2.6 million viewers, the UGC at Les Halles is therefore the top cinema worldwide in terms of admissions. Despite an overall decline in cinema attendance, this theater remains relatively unaffected, thanks to its innovative approach—which "pioneered mass movie clubs by betting early on a diverse lineup" in 2023, explained Eric Marti, CEO of Comscore France. France ranks as the third largest film market globally, after the United States and China.
