Located in the 17th arrondissement of Paris, the Cité de l'Economie (or Citéco, for those in the know) is an educational museum dedicated to the economy. Managed by the Banque de France, its aim is to educate the general public about the economy, its players and its foundations.
Citéco is housed in the Hôtel Gaillard, a listed 19th-century building. In fact, the museum's interior surprises as much as it amazes: the façade gives no hint of the richness of the interior architecture. The permanent collections house objects as fascinating as their setting, including a vault containing a gold ingot...
With a family-friendly itinerary, themed temporary exhibitions and regular events, Citéco aims to attract a wide and varied audience.
And there's no better way to convince the curious to enter and visit the museum than on free days! Yes, Citéco is opening its doors for free this summer: from July 19 to August 17, 2025, on Saturdays and Sundays, the museum is free for all. During these summer weekends, visitors can explore the museum's permanent tour and enjoy the current exhibition. Please note that paying visits and workshops are not necessarily included in this free summer operation: find out more on the Citéco website, or directly on site, for details of the summer program.
Good deals, a little-known museum: a great summer awaits you in Paris!
