The Compans Medieval Festival is back on July 11–12, 2026, in the Biberonne valley in Seine-et-Marne (77), for a free, immersive weekend at the heart of the Middle Ages, featuring performances, a market and activities for all.

Let the horns and drums be heard: the Médiévales de Compans are back in action on 11 and 12 July 2026 in the green valley of the Biberonne, right in the heart of the village of Compans, in Seine-et-Marne (77). Two days of free medieval festivities for young and old, set in the meadows at the end of Rue de l’Abreuvoir, across more than 3.5 hectares of a recreated village in the style we love.

We set the scene from the outset: no frills, and no gate fee. Access is completely free, and the sense of being transported is immediate. For one weekend, Compans turns back into a medieval village, where blacksmiths, stonemasons, potters, and itinerant musicians bring to life crafts we once thought forgotten. The period camps welcome visitors in an authentic atmosphere that’s rarely found outside the major medieval fairs of Île-de-France.

What to see and do at the Compans Medieval Festival 2026?

The program is shaping up to be richly packed for this edition. The sheepdog demonstrations and the sheep shearing will delight the youngest attendees, while the equestrian jousts and the juggling captivate visitors of all ages. History buffs won’t miss Bataille et Escarmouche, billed as France’s largest battle with no script, where strategy and courage run free at the heart of the medieval village of la Biberonne. The medieval dances and music set the rhythm for the two days, with a grand ball at sunset to close in style.

About twenty exhibitors are on site: artisans, creators, producers and traders set up their stalls in a fairground atmosphere that harks back to a bygone era. And to take a break, the tavern serves grilled dishes, savory and sweet crepes, sandwiches and drinks, in a spirit of hearty revelry.
