All summer long, pastry chef Nina Métayer offers her homemade pots glacés on the terrace of café Clothilde. A discreet, gourmet ice-cream cart to discover in Paris's 5th arrondissement.

The calm of a shady terrace, a few wrought-iron tables, and an elegant white cart that catches the eye: this is where Nina Métayer is setting up shop this summer, in front of the Café Clothilde. In residence at Maison Colbert, she offers a selection of artisanal ice creams to take away or enjoy on the spot, under the parasols. An ideal gourmet break after a stroll around the Pantheon or through the streets of the Latin Quarter.

With this summer format, the pastry chef aims to recapture the simplicity of summer pleasures. Each 120 ml jar is sold for €6 to take away, or €8 if you choose to enjoy it on the premises. The menu is short but effective: two fruity creations - strawberry-rhubarb-cherry and peach-almond - accompanied by two well-executed classics, organic vanilla from Madagascar and 70% organic chocolate.

Here, the ice creams are deliberately low in sugar, and their texture is closer to a sugar-reduced sorbet than to traditional ice cream. The strawberry-rhubarb-elderberry fragrance is distinguished by its tangy freshness. Strawberry adds roundness, rhubarb a vegetal note, and elderberry a floral hint that prolongs the tasting experience. Peach-almond evokes a childhood dessert, sweet and slightly bitter, almost pastry-like.

Alongside these ice creams, a number of toppings are available to personalize your jar: crushed pistachios, pink pralines, or Nina Métayer's homemade spreads - one with pistachio praline, another with caramel fleur de sel, or the aptly named "La Craquante".

Nina Métayer, repeatedly voted best pastry chef of the year, has worked in such top Parisian establishments as Le Meurice and Jean-François Piège's Grand Restaurant. During her apprenticeship, she came to understand that simplicity can give rise to great emotion. The strawberry-rhubarb-iris combination, which she discovered at that time, remains a strong memory for her, which she now likes to share in this summer format.

Nina Métayer 's ice-cream cart is open all summer long on the terrace of the Maison Colbert, from Tuesday to Saturday. A refreshing treat for all those who want to enjoy a moment of sweetness in the heart of Paris.
