The decor is well worth the detour, and it has to be said that Madame knows her stuff. Each room reveals a tasteful blend of period furnishings and modern touches, creating that special ambience that is the hallmark of the finest Parisian guest houses. Venetian mirrors sit side by side with designer lighting fixtures, while original parquet floors reflect the natural light that bathes the common areas.
Attention to detail is universally praised. Breakfast, a true moment of indulgence, features freshly baked pastries, local and homemade products, with a special mention for the homemade lemonade. Served in the dining room or on the terrace, depending on the season, it is an integral part of this upscale hotel experience.
We love the friendly snack served on arrival in the spacious lounge, facing the bay windows overlooking a pretty fountain. We also very much appreciated the tea or digestif served in the evening after our restaurant, by the light of the lanterns and the brazier, which offered us a charming suspended moment in this jewel case in the middle of nature. The host of the place is particularly affable and we had a most pleasant time.
The location is ideal for exploring the region. The Château de Fontainebleau, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is just a few minutes away. This "true home of kings" according to Napoleon, houses 1,500 rooms and bears witness to eight centuries of French art. Climbing enthusiasts will appreciate the proximity of the famous rocks of the Fontainebleau forest, a favorite playground for climbers in the Paris region.
The hotel pays particular attention to horse lovers. We had the pleasure of testing out one of the equestrian-themed rooms, decorated with refinement in the spirit of the stables of yesteryear. This passion is justified by the exceptional environment: Ury is home to several renowned equestrian centers, starting with Ryan's Farm Stables, specialized inwestern riding and located just a stone's throw from the bed & breakfast. The Grand Parquet, the famous equestrian stadium, is also nearby. This local equestrian tradition, inherited from the royal hunts, is now finding a new echo among equestrian tourism enthusiasts.
For history buffs, Moret-sur-Loing, the ancient medieval town that inspired Alfred Sisley, is just 20km away. With its ramparts and half-timbered houses, this fortified town with its cobbled streets retains its charm of yesteryear.
