If you're a lover of Chinese cuisine, and in particular of steamed ravioli, we've unearthed a little temple of dim sum for you. Do you like steamed ravioli? Not the kind you find in the average Chinese deli that's been waiting all day, no, the kind that's homemade, fresh and ideally cooked with delicious fillings, of course. Head for the Marais district, specifically 20 rue Grenier Saint-Lazare in the 3rd arrondissement , to discover the brand-new Dimdimsum Paris, little brother of the Chez Haki restaurant just around the corner.
As you enter the front of the restaurant, you'll see the queen of Chinese ravioli busy making dim sum and bao before your (astonished) eyes. The room reveals itself in all its length, with a few tables in front of the counter, some on the terrace and the largest at the back of the room. There are around 40 seats in this popular, trendy, human-scale eatery, which boasts a pretty homemade decor based on steaming baskets.
In the basement, two karaoke rooms are available for amateur or professional singers (and even casseroles): a small one for 2 to 6 people, and a larger one for up to 20 people. While a menu is available on site, it's a good idea to order a range of ravioli to share with friends and family.
The menu features a wide range of Baozi, from veggie to classic, including truffle and cheese. On the ravioli side, xialongbao also come in veggie, pork, truffle and shrimp versions, as well as siu mai and flowery sh rimp hargow. Everything is cooked to order, and you'll be delighted by the freshness of the dishes, which are accompanied by nice cocktails like the lychee cocktail, or hot tea for those who are a little chilly.
The curious will be tempted by Ji Dan Geng, a traditional and popular ultra-hot dish based on steamed egg custard, found nowhere else. We also recommend the gourmet Lotus Rice, a delicious glutinous rice with chicken and pork, shrimp or glazed pork, cooked in a lotus leaf - a real treat.
For the adventurous, baos are also available in sweet versions with cream, taro or durian. Pandan steamed cake, coconut pearl and yuzu chocolate fondant also await you as a dessert to round off your meal.
At Dimdimsum, the idea is to order several dishes to be placed in the center of the table, as we do, and to share in the joy and indulgence. Prices range from €4 to €6 for starters, €7 to €8.50 for baos served by 2 and €7 to €9 for steamed ravioli served by 4.
So, how about a good ravioli restaurant in song?
