Les Tontons Veg, the restaurant that puts vegan street-food in the spotlight, in République

Who said that vegan food wasn't the best way to treat yourself? Exit the simple unseasoned tofu, at the Tontons Veg, we like good food, but without animal cruelty! Just next to the Place de la République, we discover this small vegan street-food restaurant, which revisits burgers and nuggets with a vegetable sauce, with a lot of taste, in every sense of the word, and especially home-made, under your eyes!

In a family and accessible atmosphere, we settle down comfortably, welcomed by the two friends, Amir and Vincent, who run the restaurant and the relaxing pastel colors. On the menu, we find six different burgers, nuggets, chicken bites or falafels, accompanied by delicious simple or herb fries. As for drinks, we stay in the fast-food theme, with cola, but this one is organic and good for the health! You can also choose between different flavors of tea or lemonade, certified healthy, and perfect to refresh your palate after a little spicy sauce!

Wondering what you can find in vegan burgers? A plant-based beyond meat steak, which replaces traditional meat and surprises with its pleasant texture, far from the rubbery steaks of the early days of veganism. Its appearance is so similar that it could be mistaken! We also find vegan cheddar, an alternative to cheese, combined with exceptional sauces that are worth the detour. You can say that after having eaten at this address, fast food is over, as the tastes and textures are so interesting!

Difficult to choose, but we opted for the Kimchi, quite spicy, a real explosion of flavors in mouth, surrounded by a very soft and golden bread, as well as a Cheeseburger, creamy and melting, raised by a small secret sauce a little sweet, really delicious. Here, no need to remove the pickles since they are replaced by cucumber pickles, an originality that is a sensation! For a bit of Provence or Lebanon in your plate, you can also find the Arlette and the Teta, with southern flavors, and even panisse fries!

Special mention to the fries with herbs of Provence, which are a change from the more traditional ones, and especially to the nuggets, of an absolute delight. They will be unanimously appreciated, a little thicker than the chicken ones, but with a divine taste, that we don't remember having found elsewhere! We don't forget the dessert, for the sweet tooth, with a home-made chocolate praline frizza calzone, a treat for lovers of fried pastry, and cocoa of course. And considering the size of this last one, we advise you not to eat it alone!

In short, if you want to eat vegan on the side of République, you won't be disappointed and will leave with a full belly and a delighted palate. If the budget is a little more important than a fast-food restaurant, you will clearly get your money's worth at the Tontons Veg!
