For the past 12 years, the Marcounet has been turning up the heat in winter with DJ sets and concerts, and offering its beautiful open-air terrace - always with live concerts or dancing balls - as soon as the sun comes out. Inheriting its name from Marc, its first owner, the barge is open all year round, with a different offer depending on the season.
"Marcounet was the nickname given to it by my father's friends," says Zoé, who has since taken over the running of this festive barge, well known to the neighborhood's regulars. Now Director of the Marcounet, she was actually born there! It's the perfect place to sip a natural wine from the extensive wine list (most of which is certified organic), or enjoy a creative cocktail... On the food side, a la plancha cooking is in the spotlight, with finger food to share: olive tapenade, hummus, ktipiti (a spread of peppers and feta), mayo fries, etc.
"Everything here is homemade," explains Zoé, with the exception of the ice creams, which remain artisanal. So don't miss the Marcounet's signature hot dog with crispy chicken, pickles and fried onions, or the fish, beef or chicken dishes grilled a la plancha. From November to April, it's brunch at Le Marcounet that's a hit: served on Sundays, it's also accompanied by live music and can be enjoyed on the terrace (heated for the occasion).
When it comes to musical programming, the Marcounet is the place to be, with an emerging folk, rock and pop scene, as well as evenings featuring DJ collectives from the Parisian scene. In fine weather, every weekend in July andAugust, this is the place to be for dancing: salsa on Saturdays, swing on Sundays, at large-scale dance balls preceded by an introductory course.
Le Marcounet is open daily from May to October, and Wednesday to Sunday only from November to April, with concerts every evening from Wednesday to Sunday. A musical, festive, gourmet address that adapts to many occasions in an area where tourist attractions reign: don't miss one of Le Marcounet's evenings!
