In the heart of Paris 7th arrondissement, close to the Eiffel Tower and the Hôtel des Invalides stands a confidential location that once discovered has it all to keep things interesting all life around. Head to Le Narcisse Blanc, a very charming 5-star boutique-hotel, to discover their latest gourmet and secret restaurant: Le Cléo.

Under the glass roof letting the light of the day in, comfortably seated on a soft pink sofa, or in the shaded patio, enjoy a bubble untouched by time, far from the city's hustle and bustle, and enjoy gourmet cuisine by Bruno Aubin, a chef as talented as benevolent who competeted in Top Chef France.

At Le Cléo, Bruno Aubin shows bubbly gourmet cuisine, based on thoroughly selected ingredients and brilliantly worked, does not yet mean you need to break at the bank. At 32, the chef is part of this generation embodying the renewal of the Parisian gastronomy, through his comittments and recipes perfecting the most beautiful products without altering them. And all this for an affordable cost.

As a matter of fact, allow €34 the Cléo menu for lunch throughout the week, and €49 the Narcisse menu, prices that first let nothing slip of the beauty and delight of these dishes about to be served. And yet, what a wonderful surprise this lunch at Le Cléo was!

On the short and conside menu, 4 starters, 6 mains and 4 desserts. It is simple, each dish eyes at us and has this je-ne-sais-quoi, a very original pairing, a surprising sauce, a striking condiment, rocking cooking, and that makes us choose it; a very difficult choice. As for starter, we got the leek (€14) thoroughly sliced and roasted with wild garlic and served with smoked egg, shell cream oiled with herb oil, very comforting.

The green asparagus (€16) is the second vegetable arousing us with fluffy hazelnut cake, blood orange reduction, creamy egg yolk and its drizzle of hazelnut oil. It is simple, if all these vegetables were to be magically prepared in each and every restaurant in Paris, we would get rid of meats for ever.

Then, let us move to mains, with some hearty pan-seared squid (€34) with cumin oil, topping mashed sweet potato and mixed with a surprising BBQ sauce flavored with old-fashioned bourbon for a sweet touch; and the veal rack (€36) glazed with veal gravy and candied lemon, served medium-rare as it should be, deliciously smooth and served with smooth spring onions, caramelized shiitake mushrooms, and iodic emulsion; another heart-stopping dish.

Proud of the John Dory, served as a daily special so far, it is to soon join Le Cléo's summer menu given the success it met. Bruno Aubin offers you to enjoy it with flavorsome pine nut ratatouille.

Unfortunately, we will have to come back for desserts as we had not enough room left to try them. And yet, this vanilla-pecan sphere (€14) and this roasted pineapple with spices (€16) were mouthwatering... A great excuse to come back!
