True phenomenon created in Italia, the Rockin’1000 event is finally coming to France for the first time in 2019.
Save the date, friends, the French version of Rockin’1000 is something you don’t want to miss on Saturday June 29, 2019 at the Stade de France.
The concept? Having 1000 musicians and singers perform (selected in France by a video casting) to perform the greatest hits of the rock repertoire. Rockin’1000 simply is the world’s biggest rock band!
Think, 250 drummers, 250 guitarists and 250 singers on the Stade de France pitch. It has never been seen before!
The concept was created our of a crazy bet launched in 2015 by the inhabitants of Cesena in Italy. Fabio Zaffagnini and his friends dream that Foo Fighters would actually come and perform in their city. To convince them, they make the band's "Learn to Fly" performed by 1,000 amateur musicians. The video creates a buzz and Dave Grohl's band adds another date to their tour...
And for the first time in a long time, it's the Stade de France that will produce the event. The Stade team will rely on the experience of the Italians and of Philippe Manoeuvre who has been picked to program and host the ceremony.
He'll be entrusted with designing a setlist from 20 to 22 titles for 2 hours of show, Philippe Manoeuvre is supported by the Stade de France and the Italian team.
"This is what rock needed" he says and adds that in June 2019, Woodstock Festival will be 50 years old and this is the perfect opportunity to "create the Woodstock of the future". He promises "a unique sound experience".
If the setlist is still not definitive, he reveals us: "Smoke on the Water" by Deep Purple, "Whole Lotta Love" by Led Zeppelin and "Jumpin' Jack Flash" by Rolling Stones will be in.
To this, have just been added: "Learn To Fly" by Foo Fighters, "Song 2" by Blur, "Rebel Rebel" by David Bowie, "Steven Nation Army" by The White Stripes, "Suck My Kiss" by Red Hot Chili Peppers and "Smells Like Teen Spirit" by Nirvana.
Philippe Manoeuvre precises that no band will be played twice and there'll be French rock, starting with a tribute to Johnny Hallyday who performed 9 times at the Stade de France but the song hasn't been chosen yet.
Suspense remains as for Ramones "Blitzkrieg Bop".
For special occasion, special measures. The Stade de France layout will be different: all musicians will be gathered on the pitch, facing the western stand. The stand will be closed and a huge screen will be set up behind the musicians. The stadium will house 50,000 spectators.
If musicians are amateurs, technical, sound, light means will be made by professionals.
You’re a musician (guitarist, bassist, drummer or singer?) Are you a rock fan? Do you want to jump along the Rolling Stones, ACDC, Nirvana, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Queen and even Johnny Hallyday? Well then, don’t miss the Rockin’1000 event at Paris Stade de France.
To be part of this event, a piece of advice: don’t forget to book your tickets.

Castig is made with a simple video: film yourself interpreting a rock track.
Yet, you should know that you have to be at least 16 years old, you won't be payed and you'll have to come with your own equipment, you also have to be free on June 27 and 28 for rehearsals.
Recruiting is open until early June and includes amateurs from all over the world: "you don't need to know how to play Hey Joe by Jimi Hendrix with your teeth", Philippe Manoeuvre says.
Musicians selected will be trained by Italian experts with instruments via an app until the day of the concert.
