Les Ulis had planned a National Day celebration for July 14 with spectacular, family-friendly activities on Monday, July 13, 2026. Unfortunately, the torch relay and the fireworks have been canceled following a prefectural decree. The other activities remain on.

Following a prefectural order issued by the Essonne Prefecture, fireworks displays are banned across the entire territory due to the extremely high wildfire risk and the current weather conditions. The fireworks show and the torchlight parade will therefore be canceled, while the rest of the activities will go ahead as planned: the ball, other performances, and on-site catering will take place as scheduled!

July 14th marks the day when the French people stormed the Bastille prison, symbol of the oppression of the Ancien Régime, on July 14th 1789. A year later, the Fête de la Fédération was celebrated as a tribute to this very special day: since then, the date has become that of the Fête Nationale, a public holiday when the streets are decked out in blue, white and red, the colors of the French flag.

Thus, every year, numerous events mark this historic day for the country: fireworks, firefighters' balls, activities, free concerts... In the Essonne department, a lovely program is already waiting for you for this Monday 13 July 2026, whether you’re celebrating with family, with friends, or with children!
