The Prix du Cinéma Positif at the Cannes Film Festival 2025 was awarded to the Dardenne brothers for their film Jeunes Mères.

Created in 2016, Positive Cinema Week is a Cannes Film Festival initiative that celebrates committed and inspiring cinema, imagined in order to think together about a better world. Once again this year, the jury had the task of electing the work that, in its opinion, proved the most positive among the films in competition at the Cannes 2025 Festival.

The result of a collaboration between economist and writer Jacques Attali and Sam Bobino, president of the La Baule Film Festival, the Prix du Cinéma Positif once again honored a work that inspireshope, resilience and human kindness: Jeunes Mères by the Dardenne brothers, presented in official competition at the 78th Cannes Film Festival.

Synopsis: Jessica, Perla, Julie, Ariane and Naïma are staying at a maternity home to help them with their lives as young mothers. Five teenagers with the hope of achieving a better life for themselves and their child.

Once again, Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne have produced a poignant yet positive social film, avoiding too much pathos in the face of the sensitive subject of these young women, pregnant or already mothers, who are questioning whether or not they want to keep their child, even though they themselves are still children.
