Puzz: Paris’s first puzzle café-bar, where relaxation meets timed challenges

Puzz, Paris’s first puzzle-focused café-bar, has been welcoming players at 19 Rue de Palestro in the 2nd arrondissement since September 12, 2026. Created by Eva and Julien, two puzzle enthusiasts, the venue invites both hobbyists and beginners to play alone or in groups, at their own pace or in timed, competitive challenges.

The puzzle now has its own café-bar in Paris: Puzz opened at 19 rue de Palestro, in the 2nd arrondissement, on September 12, 2026. Near the Réaumur-Sébastopol metro, Eva Gatien and Julien invite you to enjoy the game outside the home, solo, with friends or family. Marketed by its founders as the capital’s first café-bar puzzle, the venue runs on two formats: the Slow, for piecing things together at your own pace, and the Speed, for a team-based competition.

The project grew out of competitive puzzle play. After competing in European and World championships, Eva Gatien envisioned this venue with Julien, a fellow competitor she met in that circle. The establishment spans 150 m² over two floors and also features a terrace.

Two formats: free puzzle play or team-based competition

The Slow option lets you pick a puzzle from the venue’s library and settle in for one or more one-hour sessions. The available models range from 50 to 1,000 pieces. The team can steer participants toward a format that matches their skill level and the time booked. This option is accessible to individuals or groups, without a stopwatch.

In Speed, players compete in duos or four-person teams. All teams start with the same puzzle and have 90 minutes to solve it. Hints are provided before the clock starts, and the first team to finish wins a complimentary round. Beginners are welcome too; plan on between an hour and a half and two hours on site.

Pricing, Reservations and Welcoming Children

The Slow costs €4 per hour per person, with a mandatory consumption charge in addition. Reservations are advised, but drop-ins may be possible depending on availability. A session can be extended if the table isn’t booked for the next slot.

Speed is offered at €19 per person, excluding drinks, and only by reservation. The children are welcome from age 10 when accompanied by an adult. For competitions, the establishment recommends forming teams that mix children and adults.

An on-site sweet and savory menu

Puzz also runs a cafe menu featuring coffees, teas, cold drinks and small plates. An espresso is priced at €2, a cappuccino at €4.50 and lattes at €5. On the food side, the menu includes meze, a burrata, cookies at €4, as well as banana bread and carrot cake at €5. You can drop by the cafe-bar without booking an activity, subject to seating availability.

According to the hours listed on its homepage, the venue is open Wednesday to Friday from 7:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.. It’s closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. The schedule for Slow and Speed sessions is available on the official Puzz site.

This shift from a home puzzle pastime to a group activity also raises questions about how it’s played: do we enjoy hunting for the pieces as much when speed is required? Regulars of long, at-home sessions will be able to compare their approach with that of other players.
