The 2022 Tour de France has not even begun, but the first stages of the 2023 Tour are already being revealed... Next year, for the 110th edition of the Tour de France, the athletes will enjoy the beautiful Spanish sun: the start of the race will be in Bilbao. The first three stages of the Tour will take place in the Basque Country.

The riders will have to line up on the starting line on July 1st, 2023 in Bilbao. And there is no question of a smooth start: the designers of this new circuit wanted to start with a very demanding stage: 185 km of racing await the cyclists.

Competitors will pass through Guernica, climb the Pike climb (2km at 9%) to the top of a hill. In the following days, the Tour riders will visit the capitals of the provinces that make up the autonomous community of the Basque Country. The second stage will take the riders from Vitoria-Gasteiz to San Sebastian (210 km of hilly roads) and then the peloton will leave fromAmorebieta-Etxano. The details of this third stage have not yet been revealed. The border crossing back to France will be done in Irun, the organizers told the newspaper 20 Minutes.

This is the first time that the Tour leaves from Spain since 1992: at that time, the start was from San Sebastian. In 2022, it is the North and East of France that are honored. The race starts in Copenhagen, Denmark, on July 1 of this year, then the Tour follows the eastern borders of the country before reaching Occitania.
