This fall 2025, the art center is offering a new format. From September 24, 2025, until December 4, the Atelier des Lumières will host a special journey produced by Lightroom.Destination Moon: An Immersive Journey with Tom Hanksisa creation centered around space, and more specificallythe Apollo missions. Visitors can admire original images from the NASA archives, as well as footage from Andy Saunders' film Apollo Remastered. Visitors find themselves on the surface of the Moon, with a front-row seat for the historic Apollo rocket lift-off, among the stars... Spectacular archive images, sounds, musical composition and ambience immerse us fully in this historic journey.

Culturespaces and Lightroom have pushed the immersion envelope, so that we too can travel to the stars. The rocket take-off, the tête-à-tête with the Moon, the journey among the stars: thanks to the images that surround us completely, and the play of sound and light, we're completely immersed in this magical epic. Some of the space shots are grandiose, and leave us with stars in our eyes.

The whole experience is told by Tom Hanks: at the Atelier des Lumières, Jean-Philippe Puymartin, the actor's iconic French stunt double, takes us into the story. Because this exhibition is really a story: Tom Hanks tells us about his fascination for the conquest of space, the great victories in the race to the Moon, Neil Armstrong's first steps, the next missions planned, the scientific interest of these space escapades...

This journey is rounded off by interviews: Tom Hanks spoke to several members and astronauts of the Artemis program, the scientists working on the next manned lunar missions. We hear about their dreams, their vocation, their experiences in space...

This immersive journey is very different from what Atelier des Lumières usually offers: Destination Lune is an immersive scientific documentary. The art center, which usually focuses on painters and artists, this time explores the wonders of nature in a more didactic and educational format. The exhibition is no less beautiful for that, especially for visitors of all ages who still dream of the stars and space.

Technology and science come together in this immersive show, enabling us to live an ancient and enduring dream: that of walking on the Moon ourselves. L'Atelier des Lumières and Lightroom invite us to become astronauts for a day, with this sensory experience.

Destination Lune lasts around 50 minutes, so there's no short program after this immersive documentary. Embark on this new and poetic adventure at the Atelier des Lumières!
