Embark on a journey through the Parisian sites that shaped the life and work of Georges Brassens, from the impasse Florimont to the great park that bears his name, between intimate memories and public resonances.

To walk in Paris in Brassens' footsteps is to enter a small, silent cul-de-sac, breathe in the air of a garden, and still hear a guitar and a unique voice echoing in the city's nooks and crannies. The impasse Florimont, modest and secret, is the refuge of his creation. There, in an everyday setting imbued with animals and simplicity, he wove his first melodies.

Georges Brassens then found his voice on the Paris stage, first frail at Les Trois Baudets, where his words resonated timidly, then more assertive at Bobino, a venue that embraced his rhythm, his commitments and his loyalty. Each song becomes a song of friendship, a whisper against injustice, a hymn to freedom. It was here that the poet became a popular singer and his guitar a national icon.

To enter these still-vibrant venues is to still hear the tremor of a unique voice that has spanned the decades. A free-spoken poet-singer, Brassens forged a powerful relationship with these Parisian stages. Discover the essential venues that carried his voice and forged his legacy in Paris.

  • In the footsteps of Georges Brassens in Paris, between music and nature

Impasse Florimont (14ᵉ arr.). From 1944 to 1966, Brassens lived with Jeanne Planche in this quiet cul-de-sac in the Plaisance district. It was here that he wrote his first songs, surrounded by a modest menagerie devoid of modern comforts. A discreet pink marble plaque, accompanied by a bas-relief by Renaud, commemorates this place of creation and life.

Les Trois Baudets (18ᵉ arr.). A legendary cabaret founded by Jacques Canetti, Les Trois Baudets was a nursery where the voices of Jacques Brel, Boris Vian, Brassens and many others were born. It was there that he took his first steps on stage, learning the best way to perform - with a demanding audience and friendly complicity.

Bobino (14ᵉ arr.). Nicknamed"l'usine" by Brassens himself, Bobino was his favorite venue for almost twenty-five years. Located on rue de la Gaîté, it became a veritable artistic hotbed for him after his early days in cabarets. It was here that he triumphed, built up a loyal community and sang his oath of loyalty to friends and convictions.

L'Olympia (9ᵉ arr.). A place of consecration, the Olympia welcomed Brassens as a star in the 1960s, particularly after his recording successes. This transition from intimacy to the spotlight marked the broadening of his musical influence in France.

La Maison de la Mutualité (5ᵉ arr.). La Mutualité, in militant contexts such as pacifist events, also welcomed him, notably during the Gaullist era.

Parc Georges-Brassens (15ᵉ arr.). Developed on the former Vaugirard abattoirs, this 8.7-hectare park inaugurated in 1985 is a bucolic setting named in tribute to Brassens. Vineyards, beehives, antique book market... So many invitations to stroll through a lively, poetic setting inspired by the artist.

It's not - by far - the best-known of our major Parisian parks, not very popular compared to giants like Parc de la Villette or Parc des Buttes Chaumont. And yet, the Parc Georges Brassens is particularly exotic, bucolic and poetic, and is always worth a visit. [Read more]
