Prayer flags on the front, a huge photograph of the Potala Palace, former home of the Dalai Lama in Lhasa (Tibet) and the name "Phayul Tibet", which means "I am Tibetan". Located in the Grands Boulevards district of Paris' 9th arrondissement, Phayul Tibet takes you on a voyage of discovery of the specialties of this unique region of the world: a journey without even leaving Paris, and above all, within easy reach of your Navigo Pass.
The menu features the famous momos, large meat-filled ravioli traditionally served in this part of the world (but also in Nepal, northern India...), a must. Less well known are the Shabaley, fried turnovers filled with minced beef, along with more classic Southeast Asian dishes. So, if you'd like to try some Tibetan specialties, Konchok, the restaurant manager, will be happy to advise you on thentuk fry, a dish of homemade square noodles, stir-fried and served with vegetables, spices and beef, or the soup version, thenthuk with beef.
Other more classic options, including egg rolls, bo buns, fried noodles... are also on the menu. Both lunch and dinner menus are available: with starter and main course (lunch only) for €13.80, or with starter (or dessert), main course and drink for €17 (lunch and dinner).
Desserts include traditional lassis, large fruity smoothies (mango or strawberry flavor) and a Tibetan specialty: tsampa cake, made with toasted barley flour. Prices range from €4.20 to €6 for starters, €7.90 to €12.90 for main courses and €3.50 to €4 for desserts.
