Les Tontons de Neuilly is the new culinary adventure of Alexandre Baizet and Gérard Castellani, who already run Pinzutu in the same neighborhood of Neuilly-sur-Seine. This time, the two friends have teamed up with chef Rachid Djillali to create a friendly place where you can enjoy French bistronomic cuisine in an elegant setting. Located at 2 Place Parmentier in the Hauts-de-Seine department, this spacious restaurant seats 70 indoors and has a beautiful 40-seat terrace for enjoying sunny days. Open seven days a week for lunch and dinner, reservations can be made by calling +33 (0)1 46 24 74 05 or via the official website.
Come and discover this space designed by interior designer Marie-Laure Navarro, who has created a retro-chic 1930s atmosphere. With its marble checkerboard floor, custom-made Dedar fabric banquettes, burl wood and walnut, and Arte wall coverings, every detail contributes to the warm and cozy atmosphere. The decor combines tradition and modernity with its curves, moldings, and moiré ceiling. You feel at home as soon as you walk through the door.
In the kitchen, chef Rachid Djillali brings over 20 years of experience gained in prestigious establishments such as Le Bristol Paris and the Four Seasons Hotel George V. His menu revisits the great bistro classics with finesse and generosity. Start with a perfect egg with pan-fried mushrooms, garnished with garlic chips, croutons, and a savory poultry jus (€15). MOF Yohan Lastre's all-poultry pâté en croûte reveals a beautiful composition of guinea fowl, duck, and duck foie gras (€22).
For the main course, the confit beef cheek is wonderfully tender and served with creamy homemade mashed potatoes (€31). The hand-cutbeef tartare accompanied by crispy homemade fries is also very popular (€31). Other options include the 7-hour confit lamb shoulder to share between two (€85), the roast veal with olive mashed potatoes, and the seared sea bass fillet with sauce vierge and seasonal vegetables. The dishes are beautifully presented and look appetizing even before you take your first bite.
The restaurant sources its ingredients from committed producers such as Ferme de l'Envol (an organic and agroecological farm), Edouard Legaud for vegetables, Maison Reynaud for fish, artisan Giambattista Saliu for fresh pasta, and Boulangerie Lepareur de Neuilly for bread. This attention to ingredients is reflected in the quality of the dishes.
When it comes to desserts, the light praline cream puff à la Paris-Brest is irresistible with its light texture and distinct hazelnut flavor (€14). The tart of the day changes according to the season and availability: we tried the pear version, which was deliciously indulgent (€13). The strawberry Charlotte with red fruit coulis and vanilla mascarpone cream is also among the sweet treats on offer.
Note that the menu changes with the seasons, so let yourself be tempted to discover new dishes and come back to try other delicious plates featuring seasonal ingredients.
The wine list showcases French terroirs with a selection of organic and natural wines. Burgundy, Rhône, Languedoc: each wine has been chosen to complement the restaurant's cuisine. You'll find the Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Nuits Hoffmann Jayer 2021, the Saint-Joseph Les Vins de Vienne 2023, and the white "Je t'aime mais j'ai soif" from Domaine du Fay d'Homme. When it comes to sparkling wines, several Taittinger cuvées are available, including the prestigious Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs vintage. Some wines are available in magnums for large gatherings.
The service is attentive and professional, in keeping with the friendly atmosphere desired by the three partners. The restaurant's name pays homage to the "Tontons Corses," a symbol of friendship and good times shared around the table. The Art Deco logo created by Caroline Ducastel, with its touch of mustard yellow, appears on the restaurant's plates, aprons, and menus. A small private room is also available for intimate group meals.
Expect to pay €15 to €22 for starters, €25 to €39 for main courses, and €12 to €14 for desserts. These prices are on the high side but consistent with the neighborhood and the quality offered.
This restaurant is for people looking for fine French cuisine with beautifully presented dishes and impeccable service in a refined and warm setting. Whether for lunch with colleagues, a romantic dinner, or a family meal, you'll have a good time without any fuss, enjoying generous and tasty dishes that do justice to the ingredients.
