The Stanford Symphony Orchestra(SSO) is one of the jewels of the American university music scene, rooted in a rich history dating back to the founding of Stanford University in 1891. Comprising nearly a hundred talented students, the SSO delights the Stanford campus each year with a series of outstanding concerts. Recent programs have included masterpieces such as Berlioz's Symphonie fantastique, Debussy's La Mer, Stravinsky's Le Sacre du Printemps, and works by Mahler, Brahms, Rachmaninoff and many others.
