Among the capital's secret museums, the Musée Clemenceau is a real nugget in several respects. Firstly, for history and politics buffs, this spot nestled in Paris's 16th arrondissement retraces the life of Georges Clemenceau, the former French prime minister nicknamed the Tiger who marked the beginning of the Third Republic. Temporary exhibitions are held here on a regular basis, each time offering a fresh insight into the life and legacy of this politician.
On the other hand, it's a place that takes us back in time. For good reason, the Musée Clemenceau is housed in the tiger's former apartment, which was his residence from 1896 until his death in 1929, a period spanning more than 30 years. The place is revealed to us as it was almost a century ago, as if frozen in time. In turn, we discover the bedroom, dining room, study and bathroom, as if the owner had never left the apartment.
We even discover a secret garden in the capital, a beautiful green setting onto which this apartment opens. The flower-filled setting gives the impression of being immersed in a work by Claude Monet, who was also a friend of Clémenceau and had himself visited this garden. A secret place steeped in history to discover in Paris!
