Housed in the remaining buildings of the former Cistercian abbey of Notre-Dame-la-Royale, founded in 1236 by Queen Blanche of Castile, the 10-hectare Maubuisson estate is home to numerous archaeological remains, as well as medieval hydraulic features such as a water mirror surrounded by plane trees and a canal.
If you’ve never set foot there, here’s a perfect chance to do so: Rendez-vous aux Jardins, from 5 to 7 June 2026! This annual event invites the general public to discover or rediscover the parks and gardens of Île-de-France through a wealth of activities, many of them free. Each year, both private and public venues invite us to enjoy a program for all ages that shapes the weekend, with botanical heritage taking center stage.
Once again this year,Abbaye de Maubuisson is getting in on the action with a program ofoutdoor activities in the heart of greenery, for young and old alike, from nature lovers to cultural events. So, why not join us in discovering this program that's as bucolic as it is educational?
Solo show by Yosra Mojtahedi with guest artists Elsa Guillaume and Magdalena Abakanowicz.
Co-curated by Marie Ménestrier and Emmanuel Reiatua Cuisinier.
Inkarna explores an imagined embodied presence that links matter, bodies, and landscapes. Black, an enveloping and sensuous force, unites the body and mind of this guardian. Inspired by Persian goddesses, the exhibition unfolds a hybrid body blending organic, soft-robotic, and mechanical elements. The artist also invites Elsa Guillaume and Magdalena Abakanowicz, whose works dialogue with her own, to craft a universe populated by chimeras and imaginary organisms.
Led by Mireille, let yourself be surprised by the magic of ink on paper, whether dry or wet. Two to three colors are enough: water conditions the surface, the ink spreads freely and, before your eyes, a moving abstract landscape emerges. Gradually, learn to spot what hides in these unpredictable marks: vegetal, animal, or human silhouettes, which you can reveal and emphasize with a few touches of marker or watercolor.
A short, playful, and poetic experience in which ink flows like sap, inviting both young and old to let their imaginations speak.
Mireille Roustit, a visual artist, highlights Hildegard of Bingen, the 12th-century abbess, and the simple, cultivated plants found in the monasteries. She works on invented and illustrated storytelling projects where graphic and written work harmonize.
Textures, colors and shapes make up the botanical richness of our parks and gardens. Your turn, kids and grown-ups alike, to let your most beautiful plant bloom through the textile collage technique. Threads, ribbons, buttons and sewing notions become your tools of creation: like couture gardeners, you assemble, layer and reinvent nature in fabric.
Remember to bring a T-shirt or a fabric bag, preferably light-colored, that you want to personalize and transform into a unique plant-inspired piece.
What could a row of plane trees, the remains of an abbey church, and a rose in full bloom possibly have in common?
As you wander through Maubuisson Park, discover a chapter of monastic history told through its landscapes, gardens and flora, and let the various plants, trees and flowers—and their symbolism—guide you through the story of the Abbey of Maubuisson and into our own imaginations.
As part of its residency at the Abbaye de Maubuisson, the Atmen company invites you to join its early artistic forays into the natural world. The mountains, the rocks, the earth, but also subterranean forces such as magnetic currents or magma beneath our feet—these elements surround us and vibrate with us. Step into these realms that captivate us with their scale, their spiritual dimension, their beauty, and their presence.
Travel with the company to the heart of living matter, the Raw Matter.
Led by choreographer Françoise Tartinville, Atmen creates and presents contemporary dance pieces that fuse other art forms. The work develops around a study of organic, raw, impulsive movement, sparked by various breathing techniques.
Creative Director/Choreographer: Françoise Tartinville
Performers: Marie Barthélémy, Stéphanie Pignon, Carlotta Sagna
