Les Commères Boulangerie opens a second address at 74 rue Crozatier, in Paris's 12th arrondissement. Larger, more modern, with a retro touch and a vast terrace, this bakery-pastry shop offers the ideal setting for a gourmet break in the sunshine.

Looking for a good non-industrialbakery in Paris? Head for the new Les Commères boutique in the 12th arrondissement, just like the first one, but this time on rue Crozatier, near the Marché d'Aligre.

Behind this project is Adèle Doublet, a passionate entrepreneur whose atypical career path commands admiration. With a degree in engineering, she quickly branched out into pastry-making, passing through the kitchens of Philippe Conticini at La Pâtisserie des Rêves and those ofAlain Ducasse. With her CAP in hand, she honed her art at Popelini, the benchmark for cream puffs, before going solo.

We crossed paths with her when she opened her first pastry bar in 2017. She then opened her first bakery , Les Commères, in 2021. Following a bout of burnout, she finally gave up her bar to refocus on patisserie. Today, she opens this new boutique in the 12th arrondissement, continuing her commitment to authentic, artisanal patisserie.

Here, everything is homemade with quality products: PDO butter, natural sourdough, selected flours. A philosophy that resists the temptations of frozen foods and cheap ingredients. Even when financial worries were on the rise, Adèle reveals that she never wanted to succumb to the siren call of cheap, frozen croissants or lambda butters.

We come to Les Commères for a simple moment of sharing. Adèle doesn't like to follow Crookie or New York Roll trends, preferring instead back-to-basics products and simple, effective pastries reminiscent of her childhood. That's also why the decor tends towards the country house. The idea is that when you walk in, you feel like you're in your grandmother's house. You'll find products by weight, sweets to share, and a fine range of jams made by Mom with only 30% sugar.

The address also stands out for its monthly collaborations with talented artisans. For the opening, there's a delicacy we warmly recommend: Julien Chamalo's chocolate pecan flan, a must-try for the first three months. Another special feature is the limited-edition viennoiserie available every weekend. During our visit, we savored an astonishing croissant with pandan cream, a lovely surprise with subtle flavors. You'll also find a whole range of snacks, including sandwiches made with our own breads.

Adèle, a great talker and a real live wire, wants to make this bakery a convivial place where people can meet up over good pastries to chat and enjoy affordable, hand-crafted creations. Sure, they're not perfect, but they have that sincerity and taste for the handmade that makes all the difference. Our favorite? The chou praliné, a sweet that's hard to resist.
