Mochi Mochi Aki is the new gourmet boutique opened by Aki Paris in February. If you're a fan of Japanese sweets, now's the time to discover and indulge.
On arrival, the store isn't very big. Everything is self-service, so all you have to do is take what you like and pay at the cash desk.
In the refrigerated section, you'll find :
A wide range of melon pans. Melon pan or melon bread is a Japanese pastry consisting of a classic brioche bun covered with a thin layer of cookie dough. In taste, it's akin to a sugar bun with a cracker on top. At Aki, these melon buns are transformed into burgers and enriched with crème pâtissière, chantilly and other sweets.
As we passed by, we discovered the delicious strawberry-lemon bread melon, black sesame-matcha, raspberry-matcha and sakura (cherry blossom) burgers.
Also on the program: mochi, of course. Matcha, sakura or other flavors of the moment to discover.
Dorayaki and other doughnuts come next.
On the savoury side, there's plenty to indulge too. You'll find the famous onigiris and bentos for a simple and effective meal.
In short, would you like to treat yourself to a little Japanese pleasure? Here's the address: 28 rue Saint-Anne Paris 1er, a stone's throw from the famous bakery of the same name.
