The number of "halles gourmandes " in the Haut-de-Seine region continues to grow. After Halle Flachat and Halle des Victoires, here comes the new Halle Biltoki in Rueil-Malmaison. Biltoki, which means "the place that brings people together" in Basque, is perched on the heights of Mont Valérien, in the heart of the new Arsenal eco-district, and promises to be the new haunt for gourmands in western Paris. A place where you can come to do your shopping or just hang out with friends over a drink and good food. In short, the kind of place that makes you feel good.
The official opening is scheduled for Friday, December 5, but it's really on Friday, December 12 from 6pm that you'll have to turn up to experience the launch atmosphere. Here's the program for the opening weekend:
A friendly atmosphere, just the way we like it.

Housed in a 3,200 m² hall that replaces the former NATO hall, this new address will bring together some twenty independent, passionate retailers and restaurateurs. Open from Tuesday to Sunday, 8am to 11pm, Halle de l'Arsenal will take us on a journey. From the Basque-influenced bistro to the wine bar, via African and Asian flavors, you'll be able to take a real trip around the world without leaving Rueil.
The concept is simple: come and do your shopping, sit down at one of the open-access tables, chat at the counter, nibble and have a drink. It's like a modern village square, like the other Biltoki halles that are proving popular all over France, such as the Halles d'Issy in the historic Eiffel halls. There's no fuss here, just good food, conviviality and a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
Among the merchants who will be setting up shop in this Halle Biltoki, there is already a fine line-up of talent:
This diversity is the hallmark of Biltoki, a family business launched in 2009 by the Alaman brothers and their childhood friend Jérôme Lesparre. Now present in a dozen cities (Anglet, Bordeaux, Angers, Béziers, Toulon, Rouen, Issy-les-Moulineaux, Villeneuve d'Ascq, Amiens), the brand boasts over 180 partner retailers and welcomes over 8 million visitors a year. With Rueil-Malmaison and soon Annecy, Biltoki continues its mission: to bring us together around what we all love: good, simple, shared food.
Right next door, on the Place Line Renaud, things are also hotting up. This 5,000 m² space is already home to new shops and is getting greener with the planting of numerous trees. It's also home to Monsieur Claude, the panoramic restaurant on stilts imagined by Bistrots Pas Parisiens in collaboration with Danny Khezzar, who designed the menu. From its rooftop, you have a breathtaking view of the gourmet hall.
TheArsenal eco-district is a project well worth a visit. Awarded the "100 Innovative and Ecological Neighborhoods" label, this new district is growing out of former industrial and military wasteland at the foot of Mont Valérien. When completed, it will provide around 2,500 housing units and an attractive urban mix. The most striking feature is the 5.4 hectares of green space, with the Jacques Chirac park stretching over 600 meters. A green lung in the middle of the city, where you can take a deep breath between two shopping trips.
In terms of transport, the future Rueil-Suresnes Mont-Valérien station on line 15 of the Grand Paris Express, scheduled for 2030, will facilitate access to the hall. Perfect for those coming from Suresnes, Saint-Cloud, Garches or elsewhere in western Paris.
This hall is also the fruit of a real joint project between Biltoki and the town of Rueil-Malmaison. The idea is to create a modern agora, a place where people can meet, get together and share a moment. As Bixente Alaman, co-founder of Biltoki, puts it:"In Rueil, we want to find what we love: full tables, mingling voices, the smell of a simmering dish. For us, that's what a hall is: a lively, noisy, human place. When local people meet and talk to each other, we know we've succeeded."
Patrick Ollier, Mayor of Rueil-Malmaison, is also thinking big for this hall:"Ideally located not far from the next station on line 15 of the Grand Paris Express metro, Rueil-Suresnes-Mont-Valérien, due to open in 2030, the halle gourmande will not only be a new destination for the residents of Rueil, including those on the plateau, but also for those from the neighboring towns of Suresnes, Saint-Cloud and Garches."
