Eurovision 2024: here are the 5 bookmakers' favourites for the song contest

Who will win the 2024 edition of Eurovision? Does France, represented this year by Slimane, have a chance? As we await the grand final of the famous European song contest, scheduled for Saturday May 11, we reveal who the bookmakers consider to be the 5 current favorites for Eurovision 2024.

Every year, Eurovision attracts a large number of music lovers behind the scenes. After a 2023 edition won by Swedish artist Loreen, the European song contest makes its comeback this spring. After two semi-finals on May 7 and 9, the Eurovision Grand Final is scheduled for Saturday, May 11, 2024. It will be broadcast live from Malmö, Sweden, on France 2 from 9pm.

So, who will emerge victorious from this new edition of Eurovision? Does France have a chance? We reveal the 5 current favorites for this 2024 edition of the Eurovision contest, according to the bookmakers.

1/ Switzerland: Nemo - " The Code

Nemo: remember his name, because you'll be hearing a lot more about him in the coming weeks. The current bookmakers' favorite, Swiss artist Nemo, is hoping to win on May 11 with his song " The Code ". 7 letters for a surprising title that mixes genres and styles, such as rap, drum and bass and opera. If you listen carefully, you'll hear orchestral constructions and offbeat melodies reminiscent of great bands such as The Beatles and Queen.

In short, this is a clever musical mix imagined for this song, written in English, which evokes the Swiss singer and rapper's growing awareness of his non-binary identity.

Born in 1999 in Biel/Bienne, Nemo has four EPs to his name, and demonstrates a great sense of musicality and creative talent. So, will his song " The Code " help him win on May 11? Bookmakers agree, crediting the artist with 25%!


2/ Croatia: Baby Lasagna - " Rim Tim Tagi Dim

Croatian contestant Baby Lasagna's show, based on his song " Rim Tim Tagi Dim ", is sure to get your feet tapping and your head bobbing!

Baby Lasagna is the project created by author, composer and performer Marko Purišić. His style? Humorous, laid-back lyrics skilfully blended with an industrial metal sound close to that of Rammstein, for whom Baby Lasagna makes no secret of his admiration. The artist is also often compared to Käärijä, the Finnish candidate who came second in 2023.

Marko Purišić is no stranger to the Eurovision Song Contest. In 2019, the artist took part in the Croatian national selection with his other group, Manntra. He came fourth. This year, Marko Purišić came out on top with his new project Baby Lasagna and the song " Rim Tim Tagi Dim ". Previously, Baby Lasagna had already made a name for itself at home with the singles " IG Boy " and " Don't Hate Yourself, But Don't Love Yourself too Much ".

Initially positioned first according to the bookmakers, they now rank him second in the competition, with a 17% chance of winning. Whether the bookmakers were right remains to be seen. One thing's for sure, though: Baby Lasagna 's dynamic, flamboyant set design is sure to blow your mind come May.


3/ Netherlands: Joost Klein - " Europapa

Joost Klein is another name likely to raise eyebrows at this year's Eurovision. Musician, writer and quirky artist, Joost Klein is the Dutch representative at this year's Eurovision Song Contest. To make the difference and try to take home the trophy, the artist offers a clever mix of mainstream pop and rap.

He may not be a household name in France, but he's a household name in the Netherlands. For Joost Klein is also a former Youtuber, known for having launched his channel under the name"EenhoornJoost" in 2008. Ultra-prolific, Joost Klein has also released no less than eight studio albums, two of which reached the top 10 of the Dutch Top 100 albums chart!

This spring, Joost Klein is aiming to make a name for himself across Europe and beyond with " Europapa ", a quirky song to match its video. The artist is currently credited with 15% according to the bookmakers.

4/ Italy: Angelina Mango - " La Noia

At present, no one knows who will win the 68th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, to be held next May in Malmö, Sweden. However, we can tell you that the Italian candidate will be in the final on Saturday, May 11, 2024. Italy is a member of the famous"Big-5", along with France, Spain, Germany and Great Britain. These 5 countries are therefore automatically qualified.

But willItaly top the podium? It's a possibility, according to the bookmakers, who credit her with 11%.
But then, who is Angelina Mango? A young singer born in 2001, she triumphed in Italy at the traditional " Festival di Sanremo " competition, which has seen Il Volo and Måneskin represent Italy at Eurovision in recent years.

Author, composer and performer, Angelina Mango has more than one string to her bow. In 2023, she took part in the 22nd edition of the'Amici di Maria De Filippi' talent contest. Thanks to her voice and her song " Ci pensiamo domani ", the artist finished second! So, can Angelina Mango hope to do as well or even better on May 11 in Malmö? Answer in a few weeks!



5/ Ukraine: alyona alyona & Jerry Heil - " Teresa & Maria

Currently in fifth place isUkraine. According to the bookmakers, the country - which already won the competition in 2022 thanks to Kalush Orchestra - has a 6% chance of claiming victory this year. So, will alyona alyona & Jerry Heil, defending the Ukrainian colors this spring, climb to the top of the podium? It's still too early to say, but the duo's song " Teresa & Maria " could well seduce the ears of the jury and viewers alike.

It has to be said that this beautiful song is the fruit of a collaboration between two of the country's most talented artists.
For those who don't know, alyona alyona is Ukraine's most popular rapper and also co-founder of the major local label with which Kalush Orchestra is signed. For her part, Jerry Heil has become an ultra-popular artist with videos racking up tens of millions of views.

Together, alyona alyona and Jerry Heil gave birth to the song " Teresa & Maria ", written to remind people that everyone is capable of reaching great heights. So, will the two Ukrainian artists succeed in taking first place in the Eurovision Song Contest next May? Stay tuned to find out!


And what about France? According to the bookmakers, French candidate Slimane is credited with 5% with his song " Mon amour ". He is currently ranked 6th in the Eurovision Song Contest, just ahead of Greece's Marina Satti.

So, can we trust the bookmakers? Will Switzerland's Nemo winEurovision 2024? Answer on May 11.

As a reminder, in 2021, bookmakers placed Italy's Måneskin in first place, followed by France's Barbara Pravi. And the predictions were right, as Italy and France came in first and second respectively. However, the bookmakers were wrong about 3rd place, which went to Switzerland's Gjon's Tears. Last year, the lucky Swedish contestant Loreen also came first according to the bookmakers. The extravagant Käärijä came second with his song"Cha Cha Cha". A ranking in line with the predictions. However, La Zarra, the French candidate ranked 3rd according to the bookmakers, ended up 16th in the contest. So anything can still happen!
