Calling all sweet tooths! On a quiet street in Paris's 10th arrondissement, Songe delights the taste buds with delicious, creative pastries that invite you on a journey. Japan, Lebanon, the Philippines... prepare for immediate takeoff for a delicious treat.

Sometimes, chance works in mysterious ways. It was while visiting the Nature Forte gallery in the 10th arrondissement that we stumbled upon Songe, a pastry shop that has been nestled right next door since May 2025. With the arrival of the Maison des Mondes Africains, Rue Jacques Louvel-Tessier, which had been rather discreet until then, seems to be undergoing a complete transformation.

To find out more, we decide to step inside this little patisserie, located less than a 5-minute walk from the Goncourt metro station and less than 10 minutes from the Belleville metro station. There we meet the very friendly Adrien, creator and manager of Songe. A former chemical engineer, Adrien took advantage of the Covid crisis to change careers and turn to the comforting world of cakes. After earning a CAP Pâtisserie (pastry chef certificate) at the Ferrandi school and gaining experience at various establishments, including Ducasse and Mariage Frères, Adrien opened Songein the spring of 2025 with the idea of introducing customers to little-known flavors and taking them on a journey.

The range on display in the window is proof of this. As the shop is small, don't expect to find dozens of different cakes there. Here, the focus is on quality rather than quantity, with truly original creations. So what's on the menu? Nine pastries, each with a variety of flavors and their own unique characteristics. For example, there's the Amiha tart, made with coconut cream, Kalamansi mango confit, shredded coconut, and a ganache made with Ube, a plant mainly grown in the Philippines.

For a trip to Japan, opt for the Paris-Kyushu choux pastry (choux pastry, craquelin, hazelnut and hojicha mousseline cream, hazelnut praline, caramelized hazelnuts). If you prefer to fly to Lebanon, indulge in the dessert combining pistachio, soft orange blossom biscuit, pomegranate confit, orange blossom bavaroise, pistachio praline, pistachio ganache, roasted pistachio pieces, and pomegranate seeds.

Another must-try pastry from the shop? The "Ma" dessert, made with a soft vanilla powder biscuit, smoked Ugandan vanilla cream, light Madagascan vanilla mousse, and roasted Papuan vanilla whipped cream.

For cocoa addicts like us, indulge in the delicious Theobroma tart, with its sweet cocoa pastry, delicious cocoa almond cream, crispy cocoa nibs, and creamy 65% Venezuelan dark chocolate from Nicolas Berger. What makes this cake special? The caramelized cocoa cascara, which adds a crunchy texture.

For those who love tangy flavors, Songe is sure to delight your taste buds with its Hespéride tart (sweet pastry, almond cream with candied lemon and citrus zest, citrus cream, citrus gel, and Italian meringue).

Ultimately, there is something for everyone, with vanilla, tart flavors, cocoa, exotic flavors... and each one promises to take you on a journey. In terms of prices, expect to pay between €5.90 and €6.40 for an individual cake (to take away), which is less expensive than other Parisian pastry shops. For those on a tighter budget, opt for the sweet clover-infused flan at €3.90. Otherwise, we highly recommend a slice of cake. Choose from lemon and black sesame marble cake or hazelnut and hojicha cake; both are to die for and cost €3.50 per slice.
Songe also offers cookies and financiers. Everything is homemade, of course, in the kitchen located at the back of the shop. Note that it is also possible to sample one or more of these cakes in the shop, but space is very limited. So, are you ready to travel through Songe's pastries?
