You'd never expect to come across such a spot when you push open the discreet door of Maison Champs-Élysées. And yet, Frivole is there, ready to give us evenings just the way we like them. During the day, we enjoy the shaded terrace, quiet and elegant, perfect for a lunch in the sun. But as soon as the light fades, the magic happens: music swells gently, glasses clink, and the atmosphere becomes decidedly more festive.
On the plate, there's plenty to discover. We started with a fresh stracciatella, spiced up with basil olive oil.
For starters, the glazed pea velouté with its crispy soft-boiled egg is a nice surprise, and the carpaccio of red mullet marinated in tarragon with a touch of Espelette pepper holds up well.
As for the main courses, the generous, perfectly cooked Wellington beef fillet, prepared before our very eyes, delights us with its truffle reduced jus. The filet de cannette aux griottes confites, meanwhile, plays on the sweet and savory notes without going overboard. A little extra juice wouldn't go amiss, however.
To finish, the Peach Melba and chocolate mousse do the job, between regressive sweetness and classic but good indulgence.
But it would be a shame not to stop by the bar. The signature cocktail menu alone is worth the detour. Each creation is well thought-out and original, without overdoing it, like this blend of Armagnac, prosecco and rosemary, which really surprised us.
And if you're curious, push open the door to the Salon Louis XIII - a corner reserved for lovers of rare cognacs and cigars, in a subdued atmosphere that smells of stolen moments. As for the UNLIMITED Club, it will open in September for those who want to take the experience even further, with a gym, swimming pool and made-to-measure wellness, but by registration only.
With Frivole, you'll discover a place that's elegant without being stuffy, festive without being excessive, where you can come for lunch with friends, have a drink after work or extend the evening with a good meal. A wonderful discovery to make in a chic corner of Paris, far from the noise but close to everything.
