Following a highly successful debut, the Made in Japan pop-up is returning to Mercato Bolivar from April 2 to 12, 2026.
Over the course of about ten days, this spot in the 19th arrondissement transforms into a vibrant pop-up Japanese concept store, featuring vintage finds, handcrafted goods, pop culture, and street food.
Here, no folklore: Made in Japan bets on a discerning, authentic selection, highlighting Japanese culture, craftsmanship and the art of living.
Among the highlights is Koji, a well-known name in Japanese vintage collectibles, offering a wide range of items imported from Japan: kokeshi dolls, ceramics, textiles, and small furniture...
In fashion: kimonos and haoris, upcycled accessory creations and hand-calligraphed, customized tees, a selection of exclusive souvenir jackets (Skajan), jewelry...
And on the garden side: bonsai and kokedama (plants set in a moss ball) to bring a minimalist, natural Japanese aesthetic into your home.
The pop-up will also celebrate contemporary and retro Japanese culture, with more than 2000 Japanese vinyl records (City Pop, jazz, funk…), posters, illustrations, manga and pop culture artifacts, and Pokémon cards
An ideal playground for both avid collectors and curious newcomers alike.
To enhance the experience, Mercato’s coffee shop is now offering a Japanese street food theme: matcha lattes, Japanese teas, sando sandwiches, onigiri, and mochis are now on the menu. At the grocery stand, a curated selection of culinary products straight from Japan is available, including a exquisite Premium Matcha powder, freshly ground and sourced directly from a producer in the Shizuoka region.
This 2026 edition highlights City Pop, the Japanese music genre from the 1980s that has become a cult phenomenon.
Two key highlights to note:
Opening Party Friday, April 3 (7–9 pm) : City Pop DJ set, street food & Japanese cocktails
City Pop Showcase Saturday, April 4 at 7 p.m. : live concert by the band After 5
Throughout the event, a variety of workshops and demonstrations for the whole family will offer a chance to explore traditional Japanese customs and practices:
Calligraphy, kokedama (a plant in a moss ball), mochi-making, paintings of kokeshi dolls...
