Fancy discovering a cuisine you're not (too) familiar with? Ecaterina Paraschiv, owner of Ibrik Café, has just opened her first restaurant, Ibrik Kitchen, in the 2nd arrondissement. On the menu: Balkan specialties and cocktails made with Eastern European spirits. Perfect for overcoming the winter blues!

There's no stopping Ecaterina Paraschiv! After opening Ibrik Café, an oriental coffee shop, in 2017, the Bucharest-born chef, who arrived in France at the age of 6, is opening a new place, Ibrik Kitchen, to affirm her Romanian origins with a Balkan-oriented menu.

The Balkans are unique in that they are at the crossroads of several peoples, several cuisines and several cultures. Ibrik Kitchen was born out of these multiple identities, and from midday to midnight offers typical Balkan specialties that warm the body and the heart.

Put your trust in Ecaterina and let yourself be tempted by the braised polenta filled with soft cheese and crème fraiche (9.5€) and the peppery pastrami-style beef samurai, accompanied by generous slices of Romanian black truffle (12€). What's more, this starter arrives under a cloche-fumoir, and we love that sense of showmanship!

Next up, the Bohemian chicken goulash with delicious mashed potatoes (20€), a generous family dish par excellence, will help you get through the long, cold winter evenings, as will the pickled cabbage leaves and vine leaves, stuffed with pork and accompanied by a creamy polenta (18€), whose pleasant flavors propel us in a flash to the table of a family meal in Romania.

For dessert, we keep things generous with papanași (8€), warm doughnuts topped with homemade jam, crème fraiche and a spicy mulled wine reduction. Like a pleasant return to childhood, accompanied by a tasty coffee from Coutume.

On the drinks front, several cocktails have been devised by Stephen Martin, voted France's best mixologist in 2009, featuring Balkan spirits such as Mastica and Ouzo.

The Ibrik Kitchen menu also features natural wines, straight from Eastern Europe. So go beyond your preconceptions and let yourself be tempted by Slovenian Refosk or Hungarian Gneisz es Csillam... We look forward to hearing from you!

It goes without saying that Ibrik Kitchen is a new Parisian restaurant that you must try if you love discovering new flavors and new gastronomies!

Please note that it's been over 4 years since our last visit, so the place and experience may have changed.
