With its shimmering decor reminiscent of the work of Wong Kar-wai, Wukong The Grand Master is the festive landmark for cocktail and dim sum lovers on the Canal Saint-Martin.

IfWong Kar-wai's In the Mood for Love is so beloved by cinephiles, it's undoubtedly for its shimmering costumes and sets (and its great love story too, of course...), which give the film a very special charm.

It was with this iconography in mind that Laurence, Alpha and Tom came up with Wukong The Grand Master, a Chinese restaurant recently opened on the Canal Saint-Martin that is already attracting gangs of friends every evening for its festive atmosphere.

But while the music swells in the main hall as the evening progresses, giving the place a thunderous atmosphere, it's also possible to dine in the back room, which can be fully privatized and is more intimate.

Working in the purest Chinese tradition, the chefs create a selection of traditional dishes inspired by Eastern Chinese specialties, from dumplings and fried chicken to broth-soaked xiaolongbao.

This myriad of Chinese dishes made on the premises celebrates the culinary essence of the region, and is sure to please lovers of foreign flavors. The discovery formula is a good alternative for discovering the full range of dim sum.

At €50 for two people, it includes 4 pieces of har gow with shrimp, 4 pieces of siu mai with pork, 4 pieces of chicken egg rolls, 4 pieces of fried wontons with shrimp, 4 pieces of xialongbao with chicken, 4 pieces of guo tie with beef and 4 pieces of jiao zi with pork.

To accompany these Chinese specialties, Wukong The Grand Master's head bartender, Junior, has devised a menu of creative cocktails that can even be tried without dinner. These include the Dragon Head cocktail (bamboo brandy, rum, orgeat, jasmine green tea, lemon, coconut mousse; €14), the Black Jade cocktail (oolong vodka, coffee liqueur, coffee, fleur de sel; €14) and the Young and Dangerous cocktail (baijiu, goji and ginger cordial, tonic; €14), available as a mocktail.
