Jip, the Korean house of chef Esu Lee at Voltaire

Jip is the name of the Korean restaurant that chef Esu Lee opened at the beginning of the year, on the Voltaire side of Paris.

Many Asian chefs are opening their own Parisian addresses in 2025. There's Masayoshi Hanada, who will shortly be opening Sushi Hanada, Masahide Ikuta, who plans to set up shop soon on rue de la Fontaine au Roi, Samuel Lee, who has inaugurated SENsation, and then there's Esu Lee, who has set up shop in a small restaurant in the 11th arrondissement, the first in his name: Jip.

After several residencies (at Mokoloco, Stina, Au Passage) and virtuoso dishes at CAM, the young Korean chef set up shop on the Voltaire side of the famous rue de la Roquette, in what is now his home - the literal translation of'Jip', in Korean. In a pocket-sized format, the address unveils a simple 3-step tasting menu.

It's obviously Korean cuisine, a true homage to his roots, that chef Esu Lee offers at Jip, with a certain love for vegetables and vegetarian recipes. In the glasses, the small selection of wines promises to be natural and well-chosen, to be sipped to the sound of jazz. Stay tuned for our review of this discreet address in the 11th arrondissement.
